A man recently took to social media to share a troubling animal abuse incident which took place in Tasek, Ipoh, last Friday (Dec 26).
Thankfully, authorities have since stepped in to intervene and the dog is now being cared for.
Saw dog being dragged along road
In a lengthy Facebook post shared by the man named Tan, he wrote that he was having a meal with a friend at a kopitiam when he saw a dog, which was leashed with a metal chain, being dragged behind a motorbike
He added that not once did the driver, an old man, turn around to check on the dog’s condition.

Shocked by the sight, Tan immediately ran toward the road and shouted loudly at the old man twice.
When the old man heard Tan’s shouts, he unchained the dog and was about to flee the scene but stopped in his tracks when Tan said he would call the police if he tried to do so.
When Tan went to check on the dog, he was heartbroken to see that its front paws were dripping with blood and called out the old man out for abusing it.

However, the old man didn’t offer an apology or explanation for his actions and simply said that he would take the dog home to treat its injuries before leaving the scene.
Blame-shifting & dismissive comments
A while later, the old man returned to the kopitiam and asked Tan whether he was going to share the footage online and make a police report.
Though stunned by the question, Tan told the old man to take him to the spot where the dog was abandoned and promised to not post the incident online if the dog was found.
Tan then followed the old man to a back alley where the latter claimed the dog was left but Tan found no traces of blood, leading him to believe the old man was trying to throw him offcourse.

Eventually, the old man took Tan to another man’s house, where the old man claimed he was the real owner of the dog.
Tan was then greeted by a couple who showed no care for the dog’s wellbeing and instead made comments like: ‘So what if we abandoned a dog? What are you making such a fuss about?’

Authorities intervene
In the comment section, Tan provided an update on the incident, writing that the dog has since been found and is now being monitored by the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS).
He also said police have also been involved and thanked those who offered help.
