More than numbers

On C19Memorial’s website, the following quote reads:

In Kuala Lumpur stands the Tugu Negara – the National Monument – dedicated to remember the 11,000 people who died during World War I, World War II and the 12-year Malayan Emergency.

They also emphasised that the fatalities weren’t mere numbers and represented the sisters, brothers, mothers, daughters, sons, fathers, aunts, grandfathers, and friends lost in the process.

As of today (Sept 9), Malaysia has recorded a staggering 19,163 COVID deaths.

Other memorials worldwide

Digital memorial isn’t something new and can be found worldwide. Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Remembrance Centre, provides research and documents about the horrors of the WWII genocide.

Similarly, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is dedicated to those who were killed in the devastating 2001 terrorist attack.

How to contribute

To submit a memorial entry, you may email them at info@c19memorial.my and it will remain on the website unless requested otherwise.

Alternatively, there’s link at their Instagram account that provides a better understanding on what information may be needed.
