If someone told you to head to Kajang Prison for a full-body massage and hair treatment, you’d probably laugh it off.
But a viral post has revealed that these services actually exist and they’re run by inmates themselves.
Yes, Kajang Prison is not only a detention facility, but also an unexpected spot where the public can shop, get pampered and try out various wellness services offered under rehabilitation programmes.
Inmates are running their own retail and service gallery

A video recently making rounds online showed visitors walking straight into the prison compound to browse products made by inmates.
According to influencer and lawyer Tun Laila, Kajang Prison operates the My Pride Product Sales Gallery, where the public can purchase:
- Kuih raya and snacks
- Frozen food
- Batik
- Handicrafts
- Home décor items
- And other handmade goods
All produced by inmates undergoing skill-building training.
Local actress wanted a quiet masseur — Netizens recommended prison
View on Threads
Separately, local actress Sharifah Sakinah posted on social media asking for a massage therapist who doesn’t talk too much and stays focused throughout the session.
Looking for a masseur who doesn’t talk too much, and doesn’t burp wind into my face. Massage, pay, go home. Don’t diagnose diseases, don’t suddenly become a doctor or bomoh,” she wrote.
A Threads user named Teta responded with a surprising suggestion: Kajang Prison, because it offers massage services carried out by trained inmates.
“You all can talk as much as you want, they’ll just smile. I got an inmate from Indonesia,” she shared.
