Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching, a passionate advocate for running, embraced the new year with an impressive 10-kilometer run, completing it in 57 minutes and 37 seconds.
Sharing her experience on Facebook yesterday, Teo reflected on how running has shaped not only her physical health but also her mental resilience.

Ran 1906KM in 2024
In her post, she revealed that she covered a staggering total of 1,906.12 kilometers in 2024.
While the figure might seem overwhelming, she explained that it was the result of a consistent routine of running 5 kilometers daily.
Her commitment to running has become more than just a fitness goal—it has evolved into a practice of personal growth and self-discipline.

Running helps navigate her life
Teo also shared her perspective on how running helps her navigate challenges in life. For her, the act of running mirrors the ups and downs of daily struggles.
She described how it has taught her to stay focused during moments of anxiety and to avoid wasting energy on things beyond her control.
When faced with self-doubt, she reminded herself to channel her efforts into areas where she could make a difference.
Wisdom learned from running
Through running, Teo has learned to honor the promises she makes to herself, building her confidence and inner strength.
She shared a poignant reflection, noting that when the scenery along the journey is less than inspiring, it’s a cue to pick up the pace.
Conversely, when the path becomes difficult, it’s okay to slow down and persevere. For her, the essence lies in staying on the path, trusting that beauty and fulfillment await further ahead.
Ending her post with a touch of humor, Teo joked about rewarding herself with her first slice of bak kwa and a pineapple tart of the year, made all the more satisfying after her hard-earned run.
