Denmark Orders Recall Of Buldak Samyang Noodles Due To It Being Too Spicy

Danish food regulators claimed the noodles could cause 'acute poisoning'.
If you’re a fan of spicy food, you’re probably no stranger to Buldak Samyang Noodles, which is a line of instant noodles produced in Korea and famed for its insane levels of spiciness.

However, it seems that the instant noodles may prove to be too hot to handle for some, which was the case for Denmark, where food regulators ordered a recall of the spice-inducing noodles for…being too spicy.

Buldak Samyang noodles recalled in Denmark for being ‘too spicy’

According to a report by BBC, the three types of Buldak Samyang noodles to be hit with the recall were Buldak 3x Spicy & Hot Chicken, 2x Spicy & Hot Chicken and Hot Chicken Stew.

Officials from the The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration claimed that the noodles contained levels of capsaicin in a single packet that were “so high that they pose a risk of the consumer developing acute poisoning”.

It also issued a recall on Tuesday (June 11) and urged consumers who had bought the following Buldak Samyang noodles to either discard or return the product.

Following the recall order, Samyang Foods, the producer of the noodles, expressed bewilderment and insisted that its products were safe for consumption.

We understand that the Danish food authority recalled the products, not because of a problem in their quality but because they were too spicy.

“The products are being exported globally. But this is the first time they have been recalled for the above reason,” it said in a statement to BBC.

Aside from producing the noodles that have set countless tongues on fire, Samyang Foods also makes its own line of spicy sauces and dairy products, which have won them thousands of fans globally.
