Thinking that it was just an ordinary case of spillage, a Singaporean woman didn’t think too much of her split porridge and proceeded to consume it.
However, the truth was later revealed to her by a neighbour, leaving her feeling absolutely sick to her stomach.
Noticed porridge was “two-thirds full”
Taking to the Facebook group COMPLAINT SINGAPORE last Sunday (Nov 23), the OP named Angela wrote that the delivery rider texted her at 12.15pm but only came up to her unit at 12.22pm.

Upon receiving her order, she noted that the plastic bag was “dripping and sticky”. However, she decided to give the rider the benefit of a doubt as she assumed the spillage was caused by speed or rough riding.
She then transferred the porridge into a bowl and observed that it was only “two-thirds full” but she opted not to report the issue to the delivery platform.
Neighbour breaks the bad news
Hours later, Angela came back home and saw that a note was left at the lift lobby by a neighbour.
In the note, the neighbour wrote that they witnessed the delivery rider opening up the order downstairs at the lift lobby and attempted to pour the spilled porridge back into the container.

Although the note wrote that the incident took place on Nov 30, Angela clarified in the caption that the neighbour had written the wrong date and that it occurred on Nov 22.
She also attached a video showing the delivery rider being caught in the act in the post.
‘Disgusted & outraged’
Upon learning the truth, Angela wrote that she was left feeling “disgusted and outraged” but expressed relief that she only ate less than half of the porridge.

Thankfully It’s been hours and my stomach is okay. I order food every other day and now I swear I’m gonna have PTSD from this”.
Angela added that she has reached out to the delivery platform and is waiting for their reply.
Reactions
In the comment section, netizens didn’t hold back on their disgust over the incident and criticised the delivery rider for his lack of hygiene.

Others said the incident was proof that they were correct in choosing not to order food via delivery platforms.

Speaking to WeirdKaya, Angela said the delivery platform has since reached out to her and offered an apology and a $S10 (approx. RM30) voucher but said the response was very much a “standard template reply”.
“While I appreciate the acknowledgment, the response didn’t address the seriousness of the situation — especially since this involved food tampering, hygiene risks, and the fact that the rider ignored my neighbour’s warnings while continuing to handle the food in public view at the block’s drop off point.
“Nothing in their reply reassured me that consumer safety is being taken seriously,” she said.
When asked whether she experienced any physical discomfort, Angela said she went to the toilet twice but was relieved it was relatively minor.

“Honestly, the physical symptoms were nothing compared to the shock, disgust, and trauma I felt after realising what had actually happened to the food I consumed.”
As to whether she will continue to order food via delivery platforms in the future, Angela said she has little choice as she relies on food deliveries whenever she’s sick or is too busy.
“It definitely affects how I feel about food delivery now. I’ll still order delivery when I have no choice, but I won’t be ordering as frequently as before.
“I’ve already unsubscribed from the platform due to their insincerity. The trust has been shaken, and it’s going to take a while before I feel comfortable ordering the way I used to.”
