DBKL Lorry Seen Transporting Soil Without Tarp Covering, Sparks Concern Over Road Safety

"What if it hits other road users?"
A lorry belonging to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has come under public scrutiny after a video showing it carrying an uncovered load of soil went viral on social media.

The video, shared by TikTok user @zuanhardie_family, shows the lorry transporting what appears to be black soil without any covering such as a tarp or netting.

‘What if it hits other road users?’

The uploader expressed frustration over the incident, warning that such negligence could endanger other road users.

They didn’t even cover it while carrying soil. What if it hits a motorcyclist or someone’s car windscreen?” he said in the clip.

According to the post, the lorry’s soil load did not exceed the height of the lorry’s side panels, but the lack of proper covering raised concerns among viewers who noted that falling debris could pose serious risks, particularly to motorcyclists.

Under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and the Road Traffic Rules 1959, all vehicles, including those owned by local authorities and enforcement agencies, are required to comply with road safety regulations.

Drivers must ensure that all loads are securely covered and transported safely to prevent accidents or hazards to other road users.

Failure to comply can result in fines or compounds of up to RM300, issued by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) or the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
