SHAH ALAM – Driven by personal and financial woes, a couple took their six-month-old son on a gruelling 200km journey on a motorcycle.
In a Facebook post, Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) revealed that the family had travelled all the way from Kuala Kurau, Perak to Selangor due to stress.
It was also reported that the family had asked for donations from the public at a petrol station.
After receiving a tip-off about their current location, the Saidina Umar Squad (SSU) Zakat Selangor acted quickly in offering assistance.
“The young couple was living a very burdensome life after being jobless since the second Movement Control Order.
“They also took their son with them all the way to Selangor,” a spokesperson said.
According to LZS, the trio planned to stay at a family home in Selangor but could not do so due to internal problems.
Additional investigations also revealed that the couple had received financial aid from LZS before it was terminated when they moved to Perak last year.

They had also received assistance from mosques, villages, and the Perak Islamic Religious Council.
The family is currently residing in a budget hotel and received RM500 in emergency assistance from LZS.
