A business owner recently shared her frustration after a young employee quit just one day into the job, claiming she wasn’t properly guided.
The 18-year-old worker had been hired at a mobile phone accessories shop but resigned abruptly, saying that her colleagues didn’t teach her how to do her tasks.
However, the employer strongly disagreed and explained what really happened.

Walked out after just one day
The staff member gave up on the job after only a day, stating that no one wanted to help her.
But according to the employer, she had been assisted multiple times, both by herself and other colleagues.
Struggled with basic tasks
Reported by mStar, the employer said the staff member had difficulty performing basic responsibilities.
She was slow at counting money and couldn’t even solve a simple maths question such as “What is 210 plus 4?”
She also seemed unfamiliar with how to use a computer and stumbled through the process when handling transactions.

Refused to learn despite repeated guidance
The employee also did not follow instructions, even after being shown multiple times how to identify and apply different screen protectors.
The employer had advised her to observe how others performed the task and had explained the steps clearly on several occasions, but the staff member showed little effort to improve.
Not the first time this happened
This was not the first time the business owner faced such issues. She recalled hiring another school-leaver with an SPM qualification who was also unprofessional.
That previous employee often responded rudely, made unpleasant face, even in front of customers and didn’t know how to ask for help or apologise when mistakes were made.
Left the employer feeling frustrated & drained
Dealing with these types of situations has left the employer feeling mentally exhausted.
She expressed disappointment, especially when young employees show little willingness to learn or accept basic feedback in the workplace.
