A Malaysian family’s wholesome birthday surprise for their father turned into a hilarious scene straight out of a comedy skit and netizens can’t get enough of it.
In a video posted by TikTok user @fwbulan78, a son was all set to surprise his dad with a confetti popper on his birthday.
Armed and ready, he hid behind the door, waiting for the perfect moment to pull the trigger as his father walked in.
But things didn’t quite go as planned.
Confetti popper fail… again and again
As the dad stepped through the door, the son tried to pop the confetti — but nothing happened.
Instead of being confused, the dad immediately caught on and decided to play along.
With a straight face, he stepped back out, closed the door, and walked in again like nothing had happened. Still no pop.
What followed next was a hilarious loop of the father repeatedly opening and closing the door, hoping the popper would finally go off, while the family burst into laughter in the background.
Third time’s the charm (kinda)
After a few rounds of the door charade, the dad eventually gave up and officially “entered” the house to cheers and birthday wishes from his family.
And just when everyone thought the popper had totally failed, the son finally got it to work, sending confetti flying and laughter erupting again.
‘We had it all planned’
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the mother shared that the original idea was to play the birthday song on the TV when her husband walked in.
“But he came home late,” she said. “The plan went off track because my son didn’t know how to pop the thing!”
And honestly? We think the “failed” version turned out way better than the original.
Sometimes, it’s the imperfect moments that make celebrations the most memorable and this family definitely nailed that.
