A male fan was caught on camera stealing a life-sized standee of K-pop idol KARINA from a clothing store in a Kuala Lumpur mall, sparking backlash online for his actions in broad daylight.
The incident occurred at an MLB store, known for its K-pop-themed campaigns.
The man allegedly removed the standee without permission and left the premises before staff could react.

MLB issues official response
Following the incident, MLB Malaysia released a statement acknowledging the theft and reminding fans that all in-store promotional materials belong to the brand.
While we truly appreciate the excitement around our campaign and KARINA herself, we kindly remind everyone that all in-store displays are the property of MLB and are meant for shared enjoyment,” the statement read.
The brand added that it is reviewing the matter internally and thanked customers for their continued support.
More KARINA photocards coming
To ease the disappointment among fans, MLB announced that it will soon release extra KARINA photocards as part of the same campaign.
They urged fans to participate in a respectful and responsible manner moving forward.
