A tragic road accident involving a Lamborghini claimed the life of a foreign worker at the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) construction site along Jalan Lapangan Terbang yesterday evening (May 27).
According to Sin Chew Daily, the 6.50pm incident saw a 52-year-old Chinese national getting killed after he was struck by the speeding vehicle while crossing the road.
Pronounced dead at the scene
According to Sarawak Tribune, Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said initial investigations revealed the victim was a pedestrian at the time and was hit by a 54-year-old local man driving the Lamborghini from Jalan Lapangan Terbang towards Padungan.
The victim suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital,” he said in a statement released today.
The Lamborghini’s front was significantly damaged, including a smashed windshield—underscoring the force of the impact.

Following the accident, the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
Probed for reckless driving causing death
The case is currently being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with reckless or dangerous driving causing death.
If convicted, the offender could face five to 10 years in prison and a fine between RM20,000 and RM50,000.
Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals with information related to the incident to contact ASP Lucas Apin, the Traffic Investigation Officer, at 013-8246881 / 082-259900, or to report to the nearest police station.
“Always stay focused and cautious when driving. Obey traffic laws to avoid road accidents that could endanger your life and the lives of others,” reminded Alexson.
