A woman from China had no choice but to hail a ride back home after officers from the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized her luxury car during a road operation.
This comes after the Selangor JPJ carried out a five-hour special operation dubbed “Ops Pengarah” Â at the Kota Kemuning Toll Plaza along the Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) starting from 8.30pm yesterday (Aug 6).
China woman forced to take e-hailing ride home after Mercedes gets seized
According to a report by NST, the China woman, who is married to a Malaysian, was stopped by JPJ officers while driving her Mercedes-Benz S400.
Following an inspection, it was revealed that she had been driving without a valid road tax or insurance for over a year.

Another driver who was caught with an expired road tax was a 25-year-old local man, who said the Toyota Vellfire MPV he was driving was purchased three months ago.
He told JPJ officers that the vehicle was bought by his brother through a “sambung bayar” (loan takeover) arrangement with the original owner.
But when he informed the original owner to renew the road tax, the latter claimed he couldn’t due to outstanding summonses.
As a result, both he and the China woman had to take e-hailing rides home after their vehicles were seized.

Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan told NST that a total of 16,735 offences were recorded involving individuals driving without a valid licence between January and July.
“Of that number, heavy vehicle drivers made up the largest group with 7,116 cases, followed by motorcyclists (6,596), car drivers (2,576), and public transport operators (447).
“For the same period, there were also 25,338 road tax-related offences,” he said.
Recently, a group of celebrities and tycoons were caught not having a road tax or insurance and gave a rather weak excuse for it:
