Malaysians are known for their friendliness and willingness to help complete strangers in need. And this positive trait was on display again following a post shared by a China tourist on Xiaohongshu (XHS).
At the time of writing, the post has garnered over 1,700 likes and hundreds of comments from netizens who were also touched by the heartwarming incident.
China tourist touched by M’sian woman who paid for her meal
In the post, the tourist wrote that she made a trip to Malaysia but didn’t bring any cash with her as she was in a rush and thought most places would accept electronic forms of payment.
Unfortunately, she had her meal at a restaurant that only accepted cash, causing her to panic and rummage through her luggage to see whether she had a Ringgit to spare.
A Malaysian auntie nearby saw I was in a tough spot and paid for my meal. I tried to stop her but she had already handed the money to the shop owner.

“I tried getting the auntie’s contact information to pay her back and thank her, but she refused and left. Before leaving, she said she had a great impression of China as she’d been to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi’an and really liked it,” she wrote.
The tourist also shared a photo of her meal, which consisted of a bowl of pork soup with noodles and a coconut milk dessert, with the total amount coming to RM26.30.

The tourist also added that she’ll be offering free meals to 10 Malaysians who are near her location. If they aren’t, she will transfer RM26.30 to them instead.
In the comment section, Malaysians told the tourist to keep her money and requested her to welcome Malaysian visitors to her home country warmly.

Meanwhile, some also attested to the fact that Malaysians are indeed warm and friendly towards tourists.
