Cheating on your partner is never a good thing to do, but sometimes it’s best to find out the truth before dumping your partner.
A woman in China was left heartbroken after she was ditched by her boyfriend who accused her of being unfaithful just because her handphone somehow connected to a hotel’s Wi-Fi on its own.
China man dumps GF over hotel Wi-Fi connection
According to the South China Morning Post, the woman named Li and her boyfriend went to a hotel in Chongqing during the May Day holiday for the first time.
As she was searching for her digital ID card, Li’s handphone automatically got connected to the hotel’s Wi-Fi at the reception desk.

Upon seeing this, Li’s boyfriend asked her whether she had previously gone to the same hotel previously with another person. While Li repeatedly denied doing so, she somehow couldn’t explain why her phone got connected to the hotel’s Wi-Fi.
As the conversation came to a stalemate, Li’s boyfriend ultimately believed she had been cheating on him and dumped her there and then.
To add insult to injury, even Li’s friends also doubted her, leading her to become adamant in finding out the truth.

Went all out to prove her innocence
Much later, Li recalled that there was another hotel in Chongqing where she worked at which used the same username and password.
Convinced that she had finally uncovered the truth, Li contacted her now ex-boyfriend to explain her findings to him. However, he refused to listen and deleted her account on the chat app.
As a result, Li contacted Chongqing TV to recount her story in hopes that she would be exonerated of the cheating claims.
She also added that she doesn’t plan on reuniting with her ex-boyfriend as she didn’t want to be with a man who distrusts her.

Reporter corroborates woman’s story
A reporter from Chongqing TV later went to verify Li’s claims, where she first connected to the Wi-Fi at her previous hotel before heading over to the reception desk at the hotel where Li and her ex-boyfriend went.
The result? Her phone also connected to the hotel’s Wi-Fi automatically.
A cybersecurity specialist told Chongqing TV that it is not unusual for a smartphone to auto-connect to a new Wi-fi with the same username and password, if the device had automatically saved previous login information.
He also advised the public to turn off the ‘auto-save’ function as it could pose a security risk.
