KUALA LUMPURÂ – If you’ve been walking along the streets of Chow Kit recently, you most likely would’ve seen a little girl begging with her grandmother at the roadside.
Initial discovery
On Monday (Sept 7), the Rakyat Post reported that an officer from the Welfare Department had found the girl and saw that her eyes from bruised from suspected abuse.
When the welfare officer told the girl’s “father” that the police would be taking care of her, he requested RM6,000 in exchange.
According to the officer, the “father”, who is said to be a widower and drug addict, also berated the child and ran off with her although she clearly wanted out.
In another report by Kosmo!, the case is currently being investigated under Section 32 Children’s Act 2001 for allowing a child under one’s custody to be on the streets, or at any premises for the purpose of begging.
The girl’s “father” is also being investigated for alleged child abuse.
Further updates
However, another viral video on Twitter posted by @admqrie revealed that the child’s “father” is still roaming on the streets.
In the video, a man could be heard questioning the “father” fiercely after the girl was nearly hit by a car while crossing the road.
In response, the “father” slaps the child across the face out of the blue, enraging the man.
When the man tried to stand up for the child, she defended her “father” by standing in front of him and crying hysterically.

Gruff but kind
It later turned out that the man in the video was a TikTok user named @aya_kl6, who previously posted some videos with the girl whom he called Aisyah.
In one of his videos, he gently tied a braid for the child as if she were his own daughter.

Many netizens commented by saying that though he looked fierce, he had a kind heart as shown through his concern for the girl.
Now, the child was brought back by his father, unfortunately, as shown in the latest video by @aya_kl6. We hope the victim’s father can treat her daughter well after this.
