ChatGPT, the popular generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that has helped millions around the world in generating writing ideas and translation is currently experiencing a global outage.
This was confirmed by its developer OpenAI, who announced in an X post (formerly known as Twitter) after users worldwide reported disruptions.
“We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we’ll keep you updated!” it wrote in the post.

Currently, users will be met with a black screen with the words: ‘ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Status: Identified – We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix’ when they head over to ChatGPT’s webpage.
Aside from ChatGPT, several of OpenAI’s services such as Sora and the API are also facing outages, according to its status page.
A check by WeirdKaya at 11.35am later showed that ChatGPT’s services have been restored and is back to normal.
