Johor Bahru residents are reeling from a shocking case of pet theft after a home security camera captured a man brazenly stealing a cat—cage and all—from a property in Taman Jaya Mas.
The alarming incident, which has since gone viral, was shared on the JBTALKS Facebook page, igniting widespread concern among social media users.

According to the CCTV footage, the suspect gained entry to the residence by scaling a wall. Once inside, he moved toward the pet’s enclosure, which was situated off-camera.
Without hesitation, he lifted the entire cage—inside which the startled cat scrambled in distress—and threw it back over the wall before making his escape.
The stolen feline is a one-year-old Persian-Maine Coon mix, as noted in the Facebook post.
A still image from the security footage, which included a clear view of a vehicle’s license plate suspected to be linked to the crime, has since been widely circulated online in hopes of tracking down the perpetrator.
Public outcry and calls for action
The distressing act has sparked a strong reaction from the public, with many expressing their anger and frustration over the theft.
