Cat Wakes Up At 5am For Sahur As If She’s Fasting The Whole Day

She’s not fasting, but she’s making sure you do.😌

If you have a pet, you know they have a knack for squeezing into your routine, whether it’s a dog that insists on following you to the bathroom or a cat that acts like your alarm clock (but only when it benefits them).

But one cat has taken things to a whole new level, waking up at 5am to have sahur with her family, as if she’s gearing up for a full day of fasting.

A TikTok video of Mikasa, a dramatic cat, went viral after she was seen sitting with her Muslim family during sahur, casually sipping water like she’s been doing this for years.

The video was hilariously captioned: “My cat joining us for sahur at 5am as if she’ll be fasting the whole day. She’s a Muslim cat now.”

Speaking to WeirdKaya, Mikasa’s owner, Dania Zulaikha, shared that her cat has always had ‘main character energy’.

She sleeps with the family from midnight until around 2 or 3am, then goes on her little solo adventures, staring out the window, exploring the house, and basically being a cat.

But when Ramadan started, she noticed something weird.

At first, she was confused, like, ‘Why is everyone awake when I’m awake?’ But after a few days, she just accepted it and started joining us for sahur. Sometimes, she even wakes me up for it!” Dania said.

While Mikasa doesn’t eat during sahur, she insists on having her drink of choice; water from an IKEA cup, preferably ice-cold from the Coway dispenser.

“If she doesn’t drink, she just watches us eat. She’s clingy, so she just wants to be around us,” Dania added.

‘Don’t be fooled, she’s not always this sweet’

Though she seems like the perfect sahur companion, Mikasa has a big personality. Being the only cat in the house, she acts like a little queen; clingy but fierce at the same time.

“She likes attention but only on her terms. If we hug or kiss her for too long, she gets annoyed and will hiss or scratch us. And if strangers come over? She’s hiding behind the curtain until they leave,” Dania laughed.

She’s also very particular about her food. No random kibble for this cat, Mikasa only eats Carnilove, Nekko, Regalos, and Royal Canin. “She’s like a T20 cat,” Dania joked.

Mikasa’s strong-willed personality extends to her daily habits too. Unlike most cats who love lounging outside, she prefers quick trips.

“She’ll go out for five to 10 minutes, send me off to work, then rush back in. If we close the door, she panics and tries to find a way in. Same thing at the vet, she’s terrified at first but totally fine once she’s back home,” Dania shared.

But during Ramadan, her routine took an unexpected turn. She started waking up at the same time as the family, joining sahur, and then continuing her usual routine, sending each family member off to work, one by one.

“That’s what we love about her. She just naturally fits into our lives,” Dania said.

‘Break fast at 7am’

Mikasa’s unexpected sahur habit cracked up netizens, who flooded the comments with jokes:
