Hari Raya is a time for forgiveness, heartfelt reunions… and apparently, even your cat needs to line up if they’ve been a bit nakal (naughty) throughout the year.
While most families are busy preparing rendang and dressing up in coordinated outfits, one family had an unexpected guest join their Raya ritual and no, it wasn’t a long-lost cousin. It was their cat.
In a hilarious and heartwarming TikTok video shared by @zaffzatul, a fluffy grey cat is seen patiently lining up with the rest of the family to salam the parents, yes, you read that right.
The cat was literally queueing like everyone else.
The video shows a cheerful living room scene: family members dressed in matching maroon baju Raya, taking turns to greet their parents seated on the sofa.
Just when you think it’s the usual Raya moment, the camera pans to reveal the cat waiting in line like, “Excuse me, I have apologies to make too.”
Adding to the comedy, the video caption reads, “That’s what happens when you’ve made too many mistakes; you’ve gotta queue up for the Raya handshake too.”
Unsurprisingly, the video sent netizens into a frenzy. Many joked that the cat had the most to apologise for in the entire household.
Some couldn’t help but notice it was the only one not wearing a matching outfit, how dare it show up without a proper baju Raya, right?
In a brief interview with WeirdKaya, the video owner, Zatul, shared that the cat’s name is Mokey, and it actually belongs to her sister-in-law.
According to her, Mokey has always been a well-behaved cat, and no one trained him to join the line, he just did it on his own.
“We felt that was very cute and pandai (smart)!” she said, adding that the whole family was amused by Mokey’s unplanned participation.
“It’s just amazing to see a cat who understands things,” she laughed.
