A close call on Jalan Nangka in Bukit Mertajam has left netizens in shocked after a driver narrowly avoided a collision with a car driving against traffic.
The 10-second clip was captured on a dashcam and posted on a Facebook group by a member of the group.
Narrowly avoid crash
The footage shows the driver on the right lane of the one-way street, when suddenly a silver car appeared, heading straight towards them in the wrong direction.
In a split-second decision, the driver swerved into the left lane, narrowly avoiding a head-on crash.
“Luckily, I reacted fast enough to avoid the car. PXX9XXX (the wrong-way driver) – stop coming out and endangering others!” The driver wrote in the post.
Netizens’ reaction
The incident, which reportedly took place around 1:30 PM yesterday, quickly gained attention, with netizens voicing their concerns.
Many criticized the reckless behavior and urged the driver to report the incident to the police or Road Transport Department (JPJ) to prevent future dangers.
Several users also pointed out the good fortune that there were no vehicles in the left lane, as the evasive maneuver could have caused a secondary collision.
