Car Collides With Motorcycle While Changing Lanes In Front Of Police Car In Penang

Haiyaa, be careful while changing lane.
A sudden lane change by an SUV caused a motorcycle crash, leading to four liquefied natural gas (LNG) cylinders to roll into the opposite lane and hit a passing police car.

According to a 1-minute and 41-second video posted on Facebook by user Mohamad Zain in the “Malaysia Dashcam Owners” group, the incident occurred on Monday (8th) at around 10 a.m. on Kulim Road, Bukit Mertajam.

Abruptly brake while changing lane

The video clearly shows a two-lane road where the SUV, after passing through a traffic light, suddenly accelerated and changed lanes.

The SUV abruptly braked, colliding with a motorcycle traveling in the right lane. The motorcyclist and the bike were thrown to the ground, and the four LNG cylinders being carried on the bike rolled into the opposite lane.

At that moment, a police car was passing by on the opposite lane. Despite attempting to avoid the unexpected obstacle, the police car was struck by one of the cylinders.

A following lorry managed to brake in time, preventing further accidents. Traffic on both sides came to an immediate halt.

After the accident, the motorcyclist sat on the median strip, appearing to be in pain. Passersby stopped to assist, moving the rolled LNG cylinders back to the median strip.

The driver of the SUV also exited the vehicle, and a man approached him to discuss the incident. The video ends with a police officer in a reflective vest examining the situation.
