Cambodian Man Who Shouted At Flight Crew And Poured Water On KLIA Officer Pleads Guilty

“RM1k fine is nothing for what he did.” - Netizen.
What started as a routine flight from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur ended in chaos when a 41-year-old Cambodian man, Lin Weida, verbally abused a flight attendant mid-air and later made criminal threats against a security officer at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Pleaded guilty to 2 charges

Lin, a travel agent, was brought before the Sessions Court where the charges were read to him in Mandarin. He pleaded guilty before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman.

According to court documents, the incident began on September 28 at 5.20pm, when Lin hurled abusive words at a 43-year-old flight attendant during a flight from Hong Kong to KLIA. The outburst was intended to provoke anger and disrupt peace onboard.

This charge falls under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, which carries a maximum fine of RM100, reported Harian Metro.

But the confrontation didn’t end there.

Threatened KLIA security officer

Just hours later, at 7.50pm inside KLIA’s Satellite Building, Lin was accused of making criminal threats against a security officer on duty.

For this, he was charged under Section 352 of the Penal Code, which carries a heavier penalty: up to three months in jail, a RM1,000 fine, or both.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Norfarhanim Abdul Halim requested that no bail be offered and that sentencing be carried out in the Magistrates’ Court, since the case falls under its jurisdiction. Judge Ahmad Fuad later allowed the request.

The case drew further public attention after a video went viral online, showing Lin pouring water from a bottle onto the head of a KLIA security officer.

Despite being humiliated, the officer remained calm and professional throughout, refusing to retaliate. His composure won him praise from netizens, even as they condemned Lin’s actions.

Lin’s case is now pending for sentencing by the Magistrates’ Court.

Calls for harsher punishment

The video triggered a wave of anger on social media, with many Malaysians saying the penalties outlined in court were too light for such behaviour.

‘Hope he gets blacklisted from entering Malaysia!’

“Maybe abang didn’t fight back because he was in uniform and there were CCTVs. If he retaliated, he’d be the one in trouble. Respect to this abang, really patient. We’re the ones getting angry by watching.’

‘It should be a mandatory jail sentence. RM1k is nothing, anyone can pay that. Even mat rempits can easily come up with that amount.
