Malaysia is a country rich in culture, which has led to the birth of a diverse range of cuisines that receive high praise from tourists all around.
Recently, a British man named Joshua, who is married to a Malaysian woman named Rachel, introduced Teh Tarik to his parents in Doncaster, United Kingdom.
British man demonstrates Teh ‘Tarik’
In a video shared by Expats Club Kuala Lumpur on TikTok, Joshua is seen preparing the essential ingredients needed to make Teh Tarik. These include tea powder, condensed milk, a mixing cup, and hot water.
Throughout the video, Rachel guides him on the correct amount of tea powder to use and other necessary steps.
What caught viewers’ attention was that they used authentic Malaysian ingredients, such as Boh tea powder and Gold Coin condensed milk, which were brought from Malaysia.
However, Joshua surprised his wife by pouring an excessive amount of condensed milk into the mixture, making the tea much sweeter than usual.

“Tarik” to create the perfect foam
After mixing the ingredients, Joshua transferred the tea into a jug to perform the signature “pulling” technique that gives Teh Tarik its signature frothy texture.
His wife explained that the tea should be poured from a height to create more foam, demonstrating the traditional method used in Malaysia.

Showing my British family how Teh Tarik is made,” Joshua said during the demonstration.
In other videos shared by the couple, they also showcase their life in Malaysia, giving insights into the country’s vibrant lifestyle and traditions.
Netizens’ reaction
