The drivers of a BMW and a Ford Mustang were recently stopped by the authorities during an operation carried out by the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) around the Kajang–Cheras Expressway on Thursday (June 12).
When caught not having a valid road tax and insurance coverage, both drivers gave a rather strange excuse for their violation of the law.
BMW & Ford Mustang drivers caught with expired road tax
Sinar Harian reported that the operation codenamed Ops Harian was carried out from 2pm to 11pm when the two luxury vehicles were stopped by JPJ.
According to Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan, he said inspections revealed both the BMW and Ford Mustang didn’t have a valid road tax and insurance coverage.

“The Ford Mustang driver, a local man in his early 30s, was unable to renew his road tax due to outstanding summonses and being blacklisted.
“As for the BMW X5 driver in his 40s, he was found to have a road tax which expired over a year ago and had no insurance coverage.
When asked why they drove with an expired road tax, both drivers claimed they didn’t have the money to renew it despite driving luxury vehicles worth hundreds of thousands of Ringgit,” he said in a statement.

Both cars were later seized and taken to JPJ Shah Alam for further action.
Borhan reiterated that driving a luxury vehicle doesn’t give one the right to violate traffic laws and called upon the public to adhere to the rules.
He also warned that “stern action” will be taken against any found flaunting the law and being negligent in their responsibilities as vehicle owners and drivers.
