Beggars Seen Changing ‘Shifts’ Outside Kuantan Mall, M’sians Suspect They’re Part Of Syndicate

Smooth.
A video of two elderly beggars appearing to take turns outside a local shopping mall has gone viral, raising suspicions of a syndicate operation behind the scenes.

The footage, shared by user X/@kamaghul, is believed to have been recorded outside a shopping mall in Kuantan.

It showed a beggar calmly handing over his spot to another elderly individual in what appeared to be a coordinated shift change.

Seamless handover sparks suspicion

In the clip, the first beggar — masked and sitting on a carpeted spot with cardboard signs — was seen at a high-footfall area just outside the mall.

Moments later, another man of similar age, also wearing a mask, arrived, leaning on a walking stick.

Rather than confrontation or confusion, the interaction was smooth. The seated beggar stood up without hesitation, walked to a nearby parking payment machine to retrieve his slippers, and calmly left the scene.

New arrival takes over instantly

Without missing a beat, the second beggar began arranging the carpet and cardboard before sitting down and assuming the begging position.

The transition was so fluid it resembled a work shift change, catching viewers off guard.

Online users suspect exploitation

The video quickly made rounds on social media, where many users speculated that the scene wasn’t as innocent as it appeared.

Several commenters alleged that an organised group could be behind the operation, possibly exploiting the elderly as part of a larger begging syndicate.

Some netizens expressed concern over how systematic the switch appeared, suggesting it indicated deeper issues of coercion or forced labor.

Authorities urged to investigate

As the clip continues to circulate online, the public is urging relevant authorities to look into the matter.

Many are calling for stricter monitoring around shopping malls to prevent possible exploitation under the guise of street begging.
