Just days before his execution in Singapore, Malaysian death row inmate Pannir Selvam Pranthaman wrote a moving final note to his lawyer and close friend, Too Xing Ji, expressing gratitude, faith and resilience even as he faced his final days.

A final act of friendship and grace
According to Too’s Facebook post, Pannir gave him a book along with the handwritten letter, one of his last acts of generosity before his execution on Oct 8.
In one of his final acts of generosity, he gave me a book, and with only days left to live, wrote me a final note,” Too wrote.
Too decided to share the note publicly, saying its message was too important to keep private.
“We are not the outcome”
In the letter, Pannir encouraged his lawyer to remain strong despite the court’s decision.
“We are not the outcome. We are what we stand for, our purpose, the best of us that we put forward, for the principles we believe in,” the letter read.
He ended his note with warmth and hope, writing, “Be there at my second book launch too. You are amazing. Take care. Jesus loves you.”
Pannir’s message, written with calm reflection, has since resonated widely online. Many have praised his strength and faith, even in his final days.
Lawyer: “He has achieved more in six years than some do in a lifetime”
Reflecting on his friend’s passing, Too said Pannir’s story was one of courage and conviction.
To all the people trying to make the world a better place, on days when you doubt yourself, I hope you may find solace and strength from Pannir’s final words,” he wrote.
“What we do matters. We stand up so that others may be seen. We speak out so that others may be heard.”
Too added that Pannir had accomplished more in six years than many do in an entire lifetime.
“They may break your body, but your spirit shines brightly still. You live on forever in all of us,” he said.
Pannir, 38, was executed in Singapore on Oct. 8 for trafficking 51.84g of heroin into the country in 2014.
According to FMT, he penned the letter just three days before his execution.
