Bangladeshi Man Struck By Lightning While Paying Brother A Visit In Pahang

He did not survive.
A Bangladesh national was fatally struck by a bolt of lightning while he was on his way to visit his younger brother in Raub, Pahang.

Aside from being electrocuted to death, the man also sustained injuries after getting struck.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Md Shahangir, who was walking toward a highway construction site near Kuala Atok in Dong to meet his brother around 7pm yesterday (Sept 8), reported NST.

While making his way to the location, he was struck by lightning and injured his left leg in the process too.

Raub police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said a team headed to the Benta Health Clinic in Lipis at 8.30pm, where they found the victim’s body in the emergency zone.

“Shahangir’s younger brother, who was at the clinic, told police that the victim lived in Kuala Lumpur and had come to the construction site to visit him on Monday. They had stayed together at the workers’ quarters at the project site.

“The victim’s remains were later sent to Raub Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” he said in a statement.
