On Tuesday (Oct 14), residents in the Bandar Utama area were left shellshocked after a school stabbing took the life of a 16-year-old female student.
While more details are being revealed in the course of police investigations, the tragedy has sparked an outpouring of grief, particularly from the victim’s family.
Victim’s elder sister dedicates touching post
As reported by NST and Mothership, the victim’s elder sister expressed her sorrow over the former’s demise by penning a post written in Mandarin yesterday (Oct 15).

Here’s the translation of the post:
“Little sister, you should have had a longer journey, more beautiful scenery, and more lovely youthful days ahead.
But a ruthless act of malice robbed you of everything that belonged to you.
This separation was so sudden and so heavy.
Before we could meet again, you quietly departed.
May you find no fear or hurt on the other side, only light and peace.
We will remember you and pray for you.
May the deceased rest in peace, and may justice prevail.
May the world be gentler to kind people.”
Aside from the family, members of the public also gave their final tributes to the victim, identified as Yap Shing Xuen, by placing bouquets at the school’s main gate.

What we know so far
The stabbing was carried out by a 14-year-old male student, who mercilessly stabbed Yap inside the school’s female toilet.
Police say neither Yap nor the suspect knew each other, although the suspect had secretly harboured feelings for her.
As for the weapons used in the attack, it was bought online and was in the suspect’s possession for a period of time.

The suspect has been remanded for a week until Oct 21 to aid investigations, reported The Star.
