Following the shocking incident in which a male student allegedly stabbed and killed his senior, a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya has announced a series of stringent safety measures that take effect immediately.
Among them is a rule requiring students to visit the toilet in pairs while teachers stand guard outside.
According to a circular issued by the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Utama Damansara (4) today, the school has implemented three immediate measures, all of which have been approved by the Petaling Utama District Education Office.
The new rules are part of the school’s response to the fatal incident and are aimed at tightening security on campus.

Metal detector screening for all students
One of the measures introduced is the use of metal detectors on every student entering the school each morning.
Teachers and school wardens will conduct scans at the school corridors—not at the main gate—to avoid photos or videos being taken by outsiders.
The school has purchased three body metal detectors and two high-sensitivity detectors to scan students’ bags for prohibited items such as metal objects, vape devices and mobile phones.
The new devices are expected to be fully delivered by Friday, 24 October.
Toilet Visits Only in Pairs, With Time Limit
The circular also states that the ground-floor toilets have been cleaned and reopened on 17 October, upon police approval.
Moving forward:
- Male students will use the ground-floor toilets
- Female students will use the first-floor toilets
- All students must go in pairs and carry a green toilet pass
- Each visit is limited to 5–7 minutes
Teachers will be stationed outside both toilets at all times to monitor movement. This rule will remain in force until the end of the year.
Students allowed to wear sports attire
The school also announced the closure and padlocking of the changing room located beside the school field.
Students attending Physical Education classes are advised to wear their sports attire directly from home to avoid changing on campus.
On 23 and 24 October, all students will be allowed to wear sports attire for the entire school day.
Safety measures aim to restore order and confidence
The school says these steps are necessary to rebuild trust among students, parents and teachers while ensuring campus safety in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The message emphasised that the school will continue working closely with authorities as investigations continue.
