Malaysia’s mixed doubles badminton duo, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, are officially parting ways.
Decision based on coaching panel’s recommendation
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has confirmed the split, with acting president Datuk V. Subramaniam stating that the decision was made following careful evaluation by the coaching team.
“After much deliberation, the coaching panel has given its recommendation,” he said today, (Mar 28).
According to The Star, BAM reached its decision based on reports and recommendations from mixed doubles coach Nova Widianto and doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky.
“We have received the report and final recommendation from the coaches,” Subramaniam said.
The pair will be split for upcoming tournaments. We have also agreed to give the coaches some time to experiment with potential new pairings.”
No participation in the Sudirman Cup
As a result of this decision, Chen and Toh will not be competing together at the Sudirman Cup in China next month.
BAM has yet to announce their new partners or future plans in the mixed doubles category.
