The National Service Training Program (PLKN) 3.0, reinstated after a seven-year hiatus, successfully concluded its first 45-day phase last month.
The program is now preparing for its second and third cohorts, scheduled from May 11 to June 24 and September 7 to October 21, respectively.

Participants to be selected through ‘random selection’
According to National Service Department Director-General Datuk Yahya Yacob, participants for these upcoming sessions will be selected through a “random selection” process.
In addition to mandatory enlistment, voluntary applications are also accepted, aiming for a total of approximately 1,000 trainees.

These individuals will be divided into two groups of 500 each, with male and female trainees undergoing the 45-day training separately.
Training will take place at either the 515 Territorial Army Regiment Camp in Kuala Lumpur or the 505 Territorial Army Regiment Camp in Pekan, Pahang.
Enlistment notifications via email & phone
Yahya stated that confirmed trainees will receive enlistment notifications via email and phone in April and August.
Trainees must confirm their attendance through a return letter; exemptions are granted only for specific reasons such as health issues or being overseas.

The Ministry of Defence outlined that the PLKN 3.0 program comprises 70% military training—including navigation, marching, and personal weapon training—to enhance discipline and physical fitness.
The remaining 30% focuses on civic education, covering Malaysian history, political systems, and multiculturalism.
All training adheres strictly to the National Service Act of 2003, aiming to bolster trainees’ national defense awareness, sense of national responsibility, and basic safety knowledge.
