Anwar ‘Shows Off’ G-Dragon Autograph & Merch, M’sians Ask Him To Do A Giveaway

Jealous.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim unintentionally sent Malaysians into a K-pop spiral when he revealed that he received exclusive G-Dragon merch during the recent APEC dinner in South Korea.

Forgot to share — when I was at the APEC leadership dinner, I received these gifts from G-Dragon,”Anwar casually wrote in his Instagram post.

Alongside the caption, he posted a photo of a signed G-Dragon album and the iconic daisy-shaped official light stick, neatly boxed like collector’s items.

To top it off, he used G-Dragon’s song “POWER” as the background audio, which only intensified the fan reaction.

G-Dragon’s high-profile role at APEC

G-Dragon wasn’t just present at the dinner as a performer or guest — he was formally appointed as the honorary ambassador for the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju, South Korea.

According to South Korea’s Prime Minister Kim Min‑seok, G-Dragon was chosen for his “continuous creativity and innovation” — even being noted for transmitting music into space — and he is expected to help communicate APEC’s themes of connectivity and sustainability across borders.

So when Anwar posts about receiving gifts from G-Dragon at the APEC dinner, it’s not just a fan moment but a diplomatic and cultural crossover where popular culture meets high-level summit politics.

‘Please don’t make me jealous’

The post, which was posted yesterday (4 Nov), garnered over 111k likes and over 28.8k shares on Instagram.

The comments section also quickly turned into chaos as Malaysians reacted with a mix of envy, amusement and pure disbelief.

One user joked, “PMX knew he was making Malaysians jealous. ”

Another commented, “Wah big boss got GD’s signature, jealous max,” complete with crying emojis.

Others went straight for the big question: would the PM consider giving the merch away?

VIPs (G-Dragon fans) also made their presence known.

One fan wrote, “Welcome new VIP fam, thank you for sharing” as if Anwar had just been officially welcomed into the fans group.

Some Malaysians were simply amused to see the Prime Minister embracing pop culture so casually.
