Anwar Says M’sians Should Be Grateful As Other Countries Face Long Queues, Station Closures & Fuel Shortage

Anwar stressed that being grateful does not mean ignoring existing challenges.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysians should be grateful that the country has not experienced the severe fuel crises seen in some neighbouring nations.

In those countries, people have reportedly had to queue for hours at petrol stations, face widespread station closures, or even walk to work due to shortages.

Govt must act before crisis worsens

According to Sin Chew Daily, speaking at the Transport Ministry’s monthly assembly in Putrajaya, Anwar said Malaysia’s economy remains in a better position compared to some countries despite global uncertainties.

At the very least, we are still alive, healthy, and our economy has not deteriorated to the level seen in some neighbouring countries. These are things we should be grateful for,” he said.

At the same time, Anwar stressed that being grateful does not mean ignoring existing challenges, adding that the government must prepare early for external crises and manage them wisely before they escalate.

He added that targeted subsidy measures such as the BUDI95 fuel subsidy mechanism were among efforts introduced to help ease the rakyat’s burden.
