Anti-Drug Officer Charged In Court After Testing Positive For Ketamine, Claims He Didn’t Know It Was Drugs

He thought he was smoking a normal cigarette and did not know it contained drugs.
An officer of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) Samarahan branch has been fined RM1,500 after admitting to drug use.

The 26-year-old accused, Nur Aiman Ahakin, pleaded guilty today.

He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for self-administering ketamine.

Arrested after urine test

According to Sin Chew Daily, the incident happened on January 1 at around 3.40 am at the Sarawak Police Headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Department office.

A police team brought the accused in for a urine test during an operation.

Initial screening showed a positive result for ketamine, which the Chemistry Department Malaysia later confirmed in Kuching.

Claims he was influenced by friends

During mitigation, the accused said he thought he was smoking a normal cigarette and did not know it contained drugs.

He also told the court that he was influenced by friends.

The court fined him RM1,500, with a default of two months in jail if he fails to pay.

He was also ordered to undergo supervision for two years at the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters.

Under the law, offenders can be fined up to RM5,000, jailed for up to two years, or both, and must undergo supervision between two to three years after serving their sentence.
