According to Maran District Police Chief, Superintendent Wong Kim Wai, the trailer was travelling steadily in the left lane when it was struck from behind by the bus, driven by a 38-year-old man.

As reported by Kosmo!, initial investigations indicate that the crash occurred due to the bus driver’s loss of control.

“I’m sorry,” says the driver

Following the accident, the bus driver reportedly expressed remorse and apologised to passengers and authorities, admitting that he had not been fully attentive behind the wheel.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the 28 passengers, the bus driver, trailer driver, or the trailer’s attendant.

All passengers were safely moved to a replacement bus to continue their journey to Kuantan.

UMPSA students reach home safely

UMPSA Student Representative Council President, Haykal, confirmed that all 20 students involved in the incident were unharmed.

They arrived safely at the UMPSA Gambang Campus at 3.56am, where members of the council were present to welcome and assist them back to their respective dormitories.

The case remains under investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
