A Malaysian couple had a surprising encounter while on holiday in Switzerland when a foreign tourist started speaking fluent Malay with them.
Wows couple with Malay fluency
In a video posted on TikTok, a Malaysian couple had run into a group of fellow hikers while vacationing in Switzerland.
To their surprise, one of the hikers, a Caucasian man, started conversing with them in fluent Malay.
According to him, he had been in Malaysia back in May but despite the short stay, he was already able to have a conversation in Malay with ease.
Fell in love with Sabah and Milo Ais
The man revealed that he had visited Sabah with his family and exploring places like Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, and Pulau Sipadan.
He added the experience left a strong impression on him, especially its culture and warm hospitality.
He also shared that he tried iced Milo and roti canai while excitedly gesturing to a family member, saying that they both loved the drink very much.
When asked which Malaysian dish was his clear favourite, it was undoubtedly nasi lemak and the man even recommended one particular stall in KL.
Netizens amazed
Many netizens were impressed by the Caucasian man’s ability to speak so well in Malay and complimented him for it.
One even said that the man’s Malay was more fluent than theirs, even though they were Malaysians.
