Gardenia is a famous brand among Malaysians for its wide variety of baked goods and catchy slogan, “So good, you can even eat it on its own!”. However, one woman took to Facebook to show how that slogan failed to live up to its name.
Suri Momoko posted several pictures earlier today showing what looked to be thick glass fragments lodged into the bread while preparing sandwiches for her husband and daughter.
As shown in the photos, the fragments were most likely mixed into the dough by accident in the baking process.
When she measured the fragments, it was approximately 2.5cm long, enough to cause serious mouth injuries.
While most netizens tagged their friends to warn them, some made fun of the incident, saying it might be a surprise gift from Gardenia in the form of diamonds.
Others urged Suri to lodge a report as soon as possible and ask for monetary compensation.
A netizen who claimed to have encountered a similar incident said that Gardenia’s staff paid her a visit to offer a formal apology and even gave her some free products.
Several netizens took it upon themselves to call Gardenia out by tagging “Gardenia Bakeries KL Sdn Bhd” in the comments, hoping to get an explanation from them.
As bread is essential for most families, everyone is advised to look out for “extra” ingredients in their food!
