A Malaysian woman working as a school teacher is at her wits’ end following relentless harassment from a group of loan sharks over debts owed by her former husband.
Aside from the harassment, the safety of her children and herself are also at risk as the ‘Ah Longs’ have threatened to end their lives.
Ah Longs harass & threaten woman over ex-hubby’s debts
Speaking to reporters about her ordeal during a press conference on Wednesday (Apr 30), the woman named Lau said she received a call from a loan shark named Calvin on Apr 28.
He asked me to bear the debts incurred by my ex-husband and also threatened to murder me and my children, ages between 10 and 17.

“I’ve also received many threatening calls from him saying that he would disturb me at my workplace as well as circulate pictures of me and my family on Facebook,” she said as quoted by The Star.
Lau said when she told Calvin that she had already divorced from her ex-husband, Calvin told her that she was described by her ex-husband as “a rich mistress” who would clear the debts.
Owed around RM10,000
Lau added her ex-husband, who works as an insurance agent and part-time delivery rider, had owed a total of RM10,000 to the loan sharks.

“Every time the loan sharks call, they would ask me to pay between RM1,000 and RM10,000.
“I confronted my ex-husband and he confessed to the debts he incurred and even included a list of loan sharks’ contact numbers and the amounts he owed,” she revealed.
‘I no longer have ties with my ex-husband’
Despite the danger faced by her family, Lau said she still goes to work while her children attend school as usual, reported China Press.
She also said the press conference was held to give a clear message to the loan sharks who have been making her life a living hell.
“I want to reiterate that I bear no responsibility for these debts. Whatever my ex-husband owes is entirely unrelated to me. A police report has also been lodged.”

Perak MCA public service and complaints bureau chief Charles Yuen, who was also present, said he has contacted the investigating officer for the case.
“The police are trying to identify the person behind the threats and the family are very afraid as their faces have been exposed on social media.
“They are also feeling traumatised as they still have to go to school and face their friends and also worry about their safety,” he said.
