On Tuesday (Oct 14), the entire nation was left reeling in shock and grief after 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen was brutally stabbed by a 14-year-old schoolmate.
Not long after, Malaysians from all walks of life have paid tribute to Yap by placing bouquets at the front gate of the school where the stabbing took place.

Among those who also expressed condolences and grief over the incident was Yang di-Pertua Agong (YDPA), His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim.
China Press reported that palace staff went to Yap’s wake service held at Nirvana Center Kuala Lumpur today to personally deliver a wreath on the Agong’s behalf.

Aside from Sultan Ibrahim, the wreath was also sent on behalf of Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, and the Crown Prince of Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
Political parties from the political divide also sent wreaths to the wake service, while senior DAP figures such as Lim Guan Eng and Yeo Bee Yin came to pay their final respect.
Malay Mail reported that Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh also dropped by to do the same.

The tragedy has largely shaken Malaysians, who never expected such violence to take place at a secondary school.
Following the tragedy, the school has taken the initiative to conduct its own screening test using metal detectors to root out forbidden or dangerous items.
