A white cat in Ipoh had a narrow escape this morning after falling into a deep drain, with firefighters stepping in to save the day in a heartwarming rescue mission.
According to the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Department, the incident occurred at Taman Cempaka Perdana when the cat somehow ended up at the bottom of a steep concrete drain.
Cat trapped with no way out
Photos shared by the department showed the animal curled up on the sloped edge, with no footholds along the vertical walls for it to climb back up.
Rescuers noted that if it had rained, the cat could have been swept away by rushing water, putting its life in serious danger.
After receiving the call, several firefighters arrived on the scene. Using a foldable ladder, one firefighter climbed down into the drain and gently carried the frightened cat to safety.
The cat appeared confused and terrified but was unharmed after the ordeal.
The department added that this was not the first time firefighters had been called to save small animals in distress.
Over the years, they have responded to numerous reports involving cats, dogs, and even wild animals trapped or stranded in dangerous situations.
The department emphasized that its mission goes beyond human lives, showing its commitment to protecting all living creatures in need.
