Firefighters, also affectionately known as abang Bomba among Malaysians, are often called to rescue both humans and animals from any sticky situations they find themselves in.
A clip has recently gone viral on TikTok after it showed a full grown cow unable to free itself after falling into a drain in Penang and had its belly up the entire time.
Cow gets stuck inside drain, ‘fights’ against firefighters
In the 12-second clip shared by one of the firefighters involved in the unusual rescue operation, it began with the firefighters looking at something with a rather resigned look on their faces.
One of them even gave a little shake of his head, as though he was a father expressing disappointment over his kids’ mischief.
The camera then pans towards the drain, where a cow was seen lying on its back and its hooves in the air as it had gotten stuck inside the drain.
As firefighters tried their best to pull the cow out from the drain, the animal didn’t seem to appreciate their efforts, where it kicked its legs wildly and sent water splashing everywhere.
Speaking briefly to WeirdKaya, the OP, Mohd Supian bin Norharun, said the incident took place on Dec 30 last year, where they received a call about the cow falling into the drain at Puncak Erskine 1, Tanjung Tokong.
He added the cow may have fallen into the drain after being shoved by other cows.
“It took a team of six firefighters to save the cow and it was only completed after 40 minutes as the animal became aggressive and the drain was too narrow, thus complicating the rescue operation,” he explained.
‘It must be throwing a tantrum’
The clip has since garnered nearly 5 million views at the time of writing along with hundreds of comments of netizens.
Many wondered how the cow ended up the way it did inside the drain, with some jokingly hinting it might be throwing a tantrum.
Others also commented on the firefighters’ facial expression, with one saying that they “looked so done” over having being called to such rescue operations.
