He was charged with a Serious Sexual Non-Physical offence under Section 15(a)(iii) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, where he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine not more than RM20,000, or both, if convicted.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to both charges and was seen wiping away tears when the charges were read before Judge Sayani Mohd.

Posted RM30,000 bail

In court, the prosecution asked for a bail of RM50,000 for each charge, arguing that the case had attracted widespread public attention.

They also requested that the court compel the suspect to report to the police station monthly and bar him from disturbing the victims and witnesses.
