Tonight in Shah Alam, a new political party called Bersama (Bersatu Sasa Malaysia) was launched, according to FreeMalaysiaToday.
Entrepreneur Danial Marnokaran Abdullah has been named the president.
Danial said the party aims to challenge the current political elites.
“Right now, you need influence and financial backing to get into politics. We want to change that,” he said.
Bersama aims to be a platform for anyone passionate about serving the people, without the need for political connections.
Danial stated that forming alliances is not a priority. Instead, Bersama aims to be an independent “third force” that checks and balances the current system.
To fund the party, Danial said Bersama will rely on crowdfunding. “We want to be accountable only to the people,” he explained.
Bersama plans to participate in the next general election. The party has submitted its leadership and constitution documents to the Registrar of Societies and is waiting for approval.
