An elderly woman is hoping to mend the fences with her estranged children and reunite with them after she left them behind decades ago.
The 95-year-old, Su Shuxin (transliteration) was originally from Penang and currently lives at the Joy Garden Old Folks’ Home in Semenyih.

Left home after arguments with husband
Speaking to China Press, Su said she got married at the age of 25 and bore a total of three daughters and a son.
However, she walked out on her family following multiple fights with her husband, leaving her then teenage children with their father.
After leaving home, Su took up various jobs such as working at a market, being a domestic helper, and washing dishes until she turned 73.
Unable to work any longer due to her age, Su checked herself into the old folks’ home and has lived there for 20 years.

Hopes to see children again
While grateful to be taken care of at the old folks’ home, Su said her greatest desire is to meet her children again, who are believed to be in their 70s now.
She also keeps a photo of her younger self in hopes that her children will be able to recognise her.
If my children want to take me home, then I will go home. If not, I will continue staying at the old folks’ home,” she added.

The old folks’ home caretaker told China Press that tracking down Su’s children has been difficult as she’s unable to write their names in Mandarin or English.
The caretaker added that Su does not have major health problems, is mentally alert, and loves to talk. She is also able to eat on her own and change her own diapers.
Anyone with information about Su’s family members can contact the old folks home at 017-553 1101 or Malaysian United Party Bukit Mertajam Branch Chairman Ong Seong Lu at 012-783 3655.
