Johor is having a streak of incredible luck this August.
An 88-year-old retired teacher from the state struck gold on August 24, 2025, winning nearly RM10.6 million in the Da Ma Cai 1+3D Jackpot 1st Prize, just days after another Johor man bagged a record-breaking RM73 million in a separate jackpot.
Bought his lucky numbers for years
The retired teacher revealed that he had been playing the same set of numbers for years, adding the numbers “2588 and 8453″ derived from a mix of his and his wife’s birth dates and their home address.
When he and his wife checked the winning numbers at home that evening, he admitted to panicking at first, afraid that he might have forgotten to buy the ticket.
Once I confirmed the ticket was in my hands, I finally felt the relief and overwhelming joy,” he said with a smile.
The octogenarian, who has previously won several hundred thousand ringgit in Da Ma Cai games, said he plans to use the money wisely.
“I will share the winnings with my family and donate part of it to charity. It’s my way of giving thanks for this unexpected blessing,” he added.
Just four days earlier, on August 20, a 53-year-old technician from Johor who works in Singapore struck the Da Ma Cai 1+3D Jackpot 6/58, winning RM73,125,073.90 — one of the biggest prizes in Da Ma Cai’s history.
He revealed that he had chosen his numbers based on his family’s birth dates rather than relying on the system’s “Lucky Pick” option.
Other Winners and Total Jackpot Payouts
Da Ma Cai confirmed in a statement that multiple winners shared the jackpots over the same week, with total payouts exceeding RM89.2 million.
Apart from the top two winners, two players from Selangor also shared the remaining prize pool, taking home RM2.1 million and RM3.3 million respectively through the EZ-Bet 15 and 12 systems.
Interestingly, all the winners said they had used numbers linked to their families when picking their bets — a coincidence that made this lucky streak even more remarkable.
