An elderly woman suffered an excruciating death after a car knocked her down and ran over her while she was crossing the road in Sentul, KL.
Harrowing details of the incident were shared by the victim’s grandson in a Facebook post, along with a serious allegation made against the car driver.
Hit & ran over by car
According to the post, the victim, identified as Lim Mui Choo, was making her way to the market located near UTC Sentul between 8am and 9am last Sunday (Jan 11).
While Lim was standing at the junction and was about to cross the road, a red Honda vehicle suddenly hit her from behind, causing her to fall to the ground.

Instead of stopping to check what had happened, the Honda car continued to move forward and ran over Lim’s body.
As a result, many of her bones were shattered and Lim began vomiting a copious amount of blood.

Driver refused to check on victim
Lim’s grandson alleged that following the accident, the Honda driver tried to flee the scene but was blocked off by a car in front.
With no other choice left, the driver got out of his car, gave Lim a passing glance, and drove away without calling for an ambulance or lodging a police report.
In the end, Lim lost her life as she wasn’t admitted to the hospital in time.

Family decries incident
Lim’s daughter, Zhang Xiufang (transliteration) told Sin Chew Daily that Lim was a cancer survivor who made a full recovery 10 years ago and was heading to the market to buy ingredients for an upcoming Chinese New Year meal.
She added that the family is still in shock over the incident as they were looking forward to let Lim spend her latter years with them.
“Police later told us that the Honda driver didn’t stop to check on my mother as he was rushing to send his child to school.
We can’t accept this explanation. How is sending your child to school more important than saving someone’s life?”

Zhang also lamented that with Lim’s passing, the family’s wish to reunite during Chinese New Year celebrations has been shattered.
