What was supposed to be a routine observation of the Qing Ming Festival turned into tragedy for a family in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan, after an elderly family member suddenly died out of the blue.
According to China Press, the incident took place at the Chong Hwa Chinese Cemetery at 7.15am yesterday (Apr 5).

Went to toilet alone
The victim was identified as 81-year-old Li Youfu (transliteration), who previously lived in Mantin but moved to KL to reside with his children.
It was reported that Li had invited close relatives to return to Mantin that morning to perform Qing Ming rites.
While preparations were underway, he said he needed to use the restroom and walked to one located about 30 metres away alone.

Didn’t come back
When the time for the rituals to be carried out came, family members noticed that Li had yet to return, prompting them to go look for him.
They then saw several members of the public yelling for help and saw Li lying unconscious outside the toilet.
Li’s family tried to revive him by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but Li didn’t show any response.

Medical staff from the Mantin Health Clinic rushed to the scene and performed CPR, but Li was pronounced dead at the scene 20 minutes later.
Police turned up at the location after being notified of the incident to carry out investigations. However, the cause of Li’s death remains unknown.
Just last month, another man also died after completing Qing Ming rites in Kedah:
