What was supposed to be a typical trip to the mart at a petrol station in Kajang turned into an accident after an elderly driver mistakenly pressed on the gas pedal.
Despite the frightening scenario and mess left behind by the crash, thankfully no one was hurt in the accident.
80yo M’sian man steps on accelerator by mistake, leads to crash
According to Sin Chew Daily, the crash took place at a petrol station along Jalan Sungai Chua at 7.52am this morning.
As seen from the mart’s CCTV, it showed the Avanza ramming its way right through the glass door, shattering it to hundreds of shards and startling staff who were working at the cashier counter.

A female staff named Gu (transliteration) told the Chinese daily that the driver was an 80-year-old man who often stops by to buy things.
“After buying a newspaper, he was making his exit from the petrol station when he accidentally stepped on the accelerator and crashed into the mart.
Luckily, no staff or customers were inside the shop when the crash happened. Its impact not only shattered the glass doors, but also knocked over a table placed near the entrance.

“Items inside the store were left in disarray and it will take some time to clean it up. This is the first time such an incident has happened, and once is frightening enough,” she said.
Miraculously, the man didn’t suffer any injuries from the crash and even managed to reverse his car out from the mart.
