With Ramadan officially kickstarting, thousands of Muslims across the country have begun fasting, along with bazaars being set up to offer food to those looking to break fast.
Unfortunately for one bazaar in Baling, Kedah, it was gripped by tragedy after a man in his 70s collapsed and subsequently passed away at the scene.
75yo M’sian man passes away at bazaar
According to a report by NST, the victim was identified as 75-year-old Zainon Said from Kampung Banggol Asam, Pulai, who was visiting the Taman Seri Harapan Ramadan bazaar yesterday (Mar 2) before suddenly losing consciousness.

District police chief Superintendent Azmi Mokhtar said Zainon’s was contacted by bystander to inform him that his father had collapsed at the bazaar.
Upon receiving the news, Zainon’s son immediately called the Kupang Health Office, where its staff later confirmed Zainon’s demise.
“The police station chief, along with two crime prevention patrol officers, arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, confirming that the victim had died,” said Azmi.
Suffered multiple health problems
Police interviews with Zainon’s children later revealed that he was suffering from a plethora of health issues such as diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol, where he was previously treated at the Parit Panjang Kupang Health Clinic.

Aside from that, Zainon was also admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar due to severe intestinal bleeding and was hospitalised for one week.
Police did not find any elements of foul play being involved in Zainon’s passing.
